MOLD INFORMATION

  • Mold is a fungus, plant like organism.
  • It does not use photosynthesis
  • The fungus is thin filaments called hyphae.
  • Penicillin is made from mold.
  • Mold is also in nasal corticosteroids.

BREAD INFORMATION

  • White bread is made up of flour, water, yeast, and salt.
  • Wheat bread is made up of whole wheat flour, water, yeast, and salt.
  • Raisin bread is made up of yeast, water, salt, raisins, butter, sugar, salt, milk, flour, eggs
  • Without yeast in the breads then none of them would be able to rise so it is important for bread to have yeast.

GOOD EFFECTS OF MOLD

  • It makes nasal corticosteroids
  • Antihistamines
  • Oral decongestants
  • Montelukast
  • It is also in medicines and fertilizes gardens

  • It is also on penicillin
  • It helps make our bodies get antibodies
  • It protects our body's from maladies
  • Makes cheese
  • It helps speed up the decaying of garbage.

BAD EFFECTS OF MOLD

  • Can give you infections
  • Can give you cancer
  • Neurotoxicity
  • Hypersensitivity
  • Hepatic

WHERE MOLD GROWS

  • It grows in warm, damp, and humid conditions
  • It grows from floods
  • Roof leaks
  • If there is plumbing problems then there could be mold
  • It grows better in warm places than in wet

WHERE MOLD SHOULD NOT GROW

  • It should not grow indoors
  • In houses with children
  • If there is a warm wet place in your house there could be mold
  • If it is in your house it is getting food from its environment
  • Not in a restaurant, hotel, hospital, or a nursing home

WHAT DOES MOLD CURE

  • It cures infections
  • It helps if your are allergic to foods because it helps make penicillin
  • If you have nasal problems if helps with your nose
  • It helps with a cold because it is I'm antihistamines
  • If there is an infection in your mouth it will help it

  • Mold spreads rapidly by releasing spores.
  • Spores are a means of producing.
  • This method of producing is called asexual reproduction

ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION

  • This is a means of reproducing.
  • Asexual reproduction uses only one parent.
  • Budding is a method of reproduction.
  • Budding is when a cell splits creating a entirely new one.

WEEK 1

  • We set up the experiment and put water on some of the bread.
  • The all of the dry bread became stale the wet bread remained wet.

  • We had to restart our project.
  • We put the bread in the same spots.
  • The dry bread became stale.
  • The wet bread stayed wet and damp.
