PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Breaking Racial Barriers

By Emily Cutler

I chose sports equipment of athletes that broke racial barriers. I think that the equipment is an important part of how an athlete performs.

Muhammad Ali's boxing gloves

Muhammad Ali is widely known as one of the greatest boxers of his time. He paved the way for all other black boxers. Gloves are extremely important to a boxer, and I think that they are important to the success of Muhammad Ali.

Joe Luis' Uniform

I chose Joe Luis' Shorts because it represents who he was as an athlete and what he overcame to be a great boxer. The fact that he even got a uniform, that he was allowed to play is a great accomplishment.

Tiger Woods Club

I chose Tiger Woods Club because Tiger Woods helped break the barriers of race in golf. He has such an incredible career to this day, and he started at age 21.

Michael Jordan's Shoes

I chose Michael Jordan's shoes because he was the greatest basketball player ever, and he was one of the first African Americans to have a contract with an endorsment, and he paved the way for African American Basketball players.

Ernie Davis' Shirt

I chose Ernie Davis' shirt because he was one of the first African American to win the Heisman Award, which is a huge accomplishment in itself.
