Christ is the bridegroom who loves the Church, his bride.
Christ gave himself up for his bride, the Church, in order to make her holy and to join her with himself in an everlasting covenant!
The relationship between Christ and the Church can be described as two becoming one flesh
Christian Marriage becomes an effective sign of the covenant of Christ and the Church, and the faithfulness of the spouses to one another gives witness to God’s faithful love
