REZA KHAN

• He seizes power by leading the military that seized control of Tehran, a capital city
• He introduced reforms to strengthen and modernize government, military, economic system
• Didn't destroy islamic beliefs but forbade women wearing vale and encouraged western style education system.

DISCOVERY OF OIL

• 1908 they discovered oil, attracting lots of foreigners.
• However, most of the profits went to British investors.

BRITISH AND SOVIET UNION

• British and Soviet Union wanted to control Iran.
• Reza Khan was afraid so he asked the Germans to help them and step in.
• After hearing that they asked for helep from Germany, Soviets and British sent in troops to Iran.
• Reza Khan resigned and his son took over
