WHAT IS A GENERAL NUMBER PATTERN?

A GENERAL NUMBER PATTERN IS...

  • A pattern that can be described in words.
  • A pattern that can be described in a number sentence using a variable.

EX. IN WORDS...

To find 10% of a number, multiply the number by 10/100, 0.10, or 1/10.

EX. IN NUMBERS...

10% of n = 10/100 x n

A FEW MORE WORD EX.s...

  • To find a number plus the same number, multiply that number by 2.
  • To find 25% of a number, multiply that number by 25/100, 1/4, or 0.25.
  • To find 65% of a number, multiply that number by 65/100 or 0.65.

A FEW MORE EX.S IN NUMBERS...

  • p + p = 2 x p
  • 25% of n = 25/100 x n
  • 65% of h = 65/100 x h
