BRONCHITIS

THE PROBLEM

• When the lining of the bronchial tubes are inflamed

SYMPTOMS

• Cough
• Production of mucus
• Fatigue, shortness of breath
• Chest discomfort
• Slight fever or cough

CAUSES

• Of acute: viruses
• Of chronic: smoking,
• or air pollution or toxic gasses
• in environment or workplace

TREATMENT

• Antibiotics if bacterial infection is suspected
• Cough medicine only for sleep, want irritants to be removed
• Other medication like an inhaler to open narrowed passageways

PREVENTION

• Avoid lung irritants: don't smoke, wear a mask when painting, etc.
• Use a humidifier
• Use a facemask outside if cold weather aggravates your cough
