DEFINITION OF DISODER
The involuntary or habitual grinding of the teeth, typically during sleep.

WHO DOES BRUXISM AFFECT?
Bruxism affects 8% of adults.
A study shows a third of parents report symptoms of bruxism in their children.

CAUSES OF THE DISORDER
The causes of the disorder is unknown but there are studies that links it with other factors including
Anxiety
Stress
Smoking and drinking
Fatigue
Snoring

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?
Teeth that are flattened, fractured, chipped or loose.
Worn tooth enamel, exposing deeper layers of your tooth.
Increased tooth sensitivity.
Headaches.
Earaches.

HOW DOES IT AFFECT BEHAVIOR
Some children with Bruxism have some behavior problems and stress.
Some adults with Bruxism have emotional stress.

TREATMENTS
Minimizing stress can alleviate symptoms for adults.
For severe and persistent Bruxism, a dentist may prescribe an oral appliance made of soft plastic to protect teeth.
Some cases Bruxism go away.
