Buddhism is a cool and complex religion. First there are four noble truths and they are (1) life is full of suffering. (2) Suffering is brought by greed. (3) You can end suffering by stopping greed.(4) End desire by following the middle path.
The middle path is a bunch of steps that is also known as the eight fold path. In Buddhism if you follow these you will live the life Siddhartha Gautama wanted you to live.
Siddhartha Gautama was the founder of Buddhism. He was a pampered prince and then at a young age he went out into the world and saw suffering. He thought for a while about what suffering was and how to fix it. He came up with Buddhism and the middle path to end suffering. Buddhism came about in the sixth century B.C. A quote from Siddhartha is "would that sickness, age, and death might be forever bound." The root word for Buddhism is Bodi.
Nirvana (not the rock band) is a Ultimate reality of the end of the self. It is also a reunion with the Great World Soul.Buddhism view of the caste system is a disapproval stating that all people should be treated fairly this is why people on the lower end of the caste system favor Buddhism.
