Who made Bugatti

Ettore Bugatti was born on September 15, 1881, in Milan, Italy. His father was a well-known artist and carpenter. The furniture he built was exquisite and sold well beyond the Italian borders. Little did he realize that his newly born son would leave a mark of his own on the world.

However, the company also has had a very storied past in automobile racing, including one car, the 1924 Bugatti Type 35, which just may be the most successful race car ever built. It had more than 2,000 victories during its time. Today, the Bugatti nameplate and company is owned by the Volkswagen auto group, and it only produces one model, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4. Known simply as the Veyron to most, it's namesake is Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1939, racing a Bugatti.
