DBase

  • A tool for databases operation for DOS popular in the 80s Currently files are still used DBase formed in some specific cases due to their simplicity.

FoxPro

  • Similar to DBase (early 90s) application. After being acquired by Microsoft, the graphical user interface was introduced and so is used to create databases on personal computers. This product is still offered, though it seems a bit obsolete.

Microsoft Access:

  • An application for databases (design and manipulation of data through a graphical interface) with many simplifications, which made them suitable for beginners, designed in the late 80s, based on a 16-bit architecture

FileMaker

  • popular application similar to MS Access in simplicity, operating on Windows and Macintosh platforms, available since 1985.
