  • Bullet trains carry 151 million passengers a year.
  • Bullet trains have 16 cars (each) and 1,323 seats
  • The trains mostly run through popular cities like Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, & Kyoto
  • Bullet trains are known for their comfort, efficiency, punctuality, & safety

  • Shinkansen's network (speed line) had the highest # of passengers in 2007 (353 million)
  • The trains have transported the most passengers than any other train network in the world.
  • Japan was the first country to build railway lines for high speed traveling.
  • The construction for the first part of the Shinkansen speed line started in April 1959.
  • Since 47 years ago, passengers have been taken over 7.1 billion trips on the bullet trains.
