What Is Bullying
Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance.
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BULLYING
- Bullying can happen in all kinds of ways.
- Be more than a bystander.
- Stand up for others.
There are four common types of bullying.
1. Physical
includes hitting, kicking, tripping, pinching and pushing, or damaging property.
2. Verbal
includes name-calling, insults, teasing, intimidation, homophobic or racist remarks.
3. Social & Emotional
also called "relational bullying", includes behavioural actions designed to harm a child’s reputation or cause humiliation
4.Cyber
includes taunting or humiliation through social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) or the Internet period.
HOW TO STOP BULLYING
Parents, school staff, and other adults in the community can help kids prevent bullying by talking about it, building a safe school environment, and creating a community-wide bullying prevention strategy. Find out what you can do.
