Overcoming Bullying

Formed groups such as: Gay-Straight Alliance, National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and Gay Liberation Front. Schools passed laws promoting equality in the class room and protecting the rights of LGBT students.

STATISTICS

• 9/10 LGBT teens have reported being bullied in school
• Gay and Lesbian teens are 2-3 times as likely to commit suicide
• LGBT students are 5 times as likely to miss school for fear of being bullied
• 28% of LGBT students are more pressured to dropout of school
• Students who reported bullying of their sexual orientation- 1/3 of staff didn't help
