BUYING

  • Canned- bonded, cut into pices, whole; not perishable
  • Whole -perishable
  • Frozen- less expensive, perishable

WHEN BUYING POULTRY

  • Read labels carefully
  • Labels contain information on the product

STORING

  • Stored in freezer (up to 6 to 8 months)
  • Store poultry in coldest part of fridge
  • After you buy frozen poultry store in freezer immediately

COOKING POULTRY

  • Cook at low temperature
  • Careful timing
  • Too long or too hot- tough dry flavorless
  • Pink poultry doesn't mean undercooked
  • Chemical reaction causes a pink color in cooked poultry
