MOTIVE

• Helter Skelter: Manson's belief that he could start a race war and personally gain from it.
• He created his own cult to kill for him;terrorized hollywood
• Helter Skelter can also symbolize an uprising of a racial war between blacks and whites

OUTCOME

• Manson, Krenwinkel, Atkins and Van Houten received death penalty
• Charles "tex" Watson is guilty of 7 murders (sentenced to death)
