This is Cabrillo's route:

This is a compass rose:

He explored California during 1540's, and ended Jan. 3, 1543(his death).

After hearing about the New World, he had an urge to explore.

Cabrillo's ship was the San Salvador. It was 100 ft. long and was a full-rigged galleon with a 10 foot draft and a capacity of 200 people.

In the end, he was the first to chart the coastline of California, and was the first to bring back to New Spain reports of the various Indian groups that lived along the coast, and officially claimed the land for Spain, and before he died, he appointed Bartolome Ferrer as captain of the expedition.
