PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site is located on the site of an ancient Native American city situated directly across the Mississippi River from modern St. Louis, Missouri.
millennium ago, this strategic spot along the Mississippi River was an affluent neighborhood of Native Americans, set amid the largest concentration of people and monumental architecture north of what is now Mexico.
Cahokia was one of the largest cities in the world hundreds of years before Columbus. But by 1400 A.D., it had been abandoned.
