The Cahuillas made made baskets from coil

Cahuillas live in California. Near Palm Springs

They made their homes from sticks, grass and straw.

They eat lots Of bred fish and soups made from mashed acorns.

And they planted the food and they hunt animals.

They used arrows and bows.

They would store their food in baskets.

In the winter they would use rabbit skin for robes.

The story of the cremation is sung at Cahuilla Nukil ceremonies, sung ceremonially every year or two in memory of those who have died since the last Nukil.
