FIESTAS

  • At the fiesta you could bet on a fight.
  • You could play games and challenge each other.
  • For the party goods you got a horse and some money.

ALCALDE

  • The Alcalde were the judges.
  • You had to make a map and the Alcalde had to aprove it.
  • You had to write a letter to tell the Alcalde why you wanted the land.

  • The wealthy women wore clean white dresses.
  • The men wore sombreros and colorful jackets.
  • Little Girls wore colorful dresses if their mother is wealthy.

  • Work at the lands of the ranchos.
  • They were like slaves because they earned no money.
  • They received only food shelter and clothes.

  • If you wanted a land grant you had to make a diseno.
  • People would disagree over the borders.
  • The Alcalde would approve your diseno and letter.
