CHAPTER 1

  • Buck, a notably remarkable dog. Was living easy in California when he gets stolen and put into dog slavery. For him, this means dragging a insanely heavy sled through frozen ice with barely any food or water to eat and constant whippings.
  • Eventually Buck gets used to the setting and learns from the other dogs. In particular him and the lead dog "Spitz".

chapter 2

  • Buck’s new friend, a female dog named Curly, approaches a husky in a friendly way, but the husky attacks her immediately, ripping her face open. A bunch of huskies approach, and Curly lunges at her.She tumbles off her feet, and the other dogs rush in, trampling her. The men come and fight off the dogs with clubs and an ax. In a matter of minutes Curly is lying dead and bloody on the ground. Buck realizes that to survive in this world, he will have to make sure that he never goes down in a fight. He also decides that he hates Spitz, who seems to be laughing at Curly’s fate.

chapter 3

  • Spitz starts picking fights with Buck, doing annoying things like stealing his warm sleeping spots. Stealing his sleeping spot is the last straw for Buck, and the two finally go at it. The fight is interrupted by a group of raving mad, starving huskies (a kind of sled dog). Some people might call this a deus ex machina. Everyone gets violently injured. Later on the trail, the dogs are on thin ice, literally, and they fall through a few times. Buck is like an anchor, keeping them from their tragic deaths in the icy water.
