WHAT DO CARBS DO?

  • Carbs are your main source of energy.
  • Carbs help you carry out you everyday tasks
  • A carb called fiber also helps you with your-
  • digestive system, prevents colin cancer & heart disease.

WHAT IS CARB-LOADING 1

  • Carb-Loading is for a athlete
  • It is used for long term events(Marathon)
  • They don't train a couple days before event
  • They fill up their glucose reserves by eating carbs
  • Once your glucose reserve is full then the carbs turn into fats.

What is Carb-loading 2

  • Once you carb load for several days
  • you have more sustained energy for your
  • event like a marathon or triathlon
  • You use all your glucose and fat that you stored

WHAT FOODS HAVE CARBS?

  • You can find carbs in almost every food
  • Simple carbs are found in foods like...
  • Fruits, vegetables, and sweets(candy/chocolate)
  • Complex carbs are found in foods like.....
  • Wheat bread, pasta, grains, bagels....

WHEN SHOULD YOU EAT CARBS ?

  • The best time to eat carbs are
  • in the morning so you can burn off
  • all the glucose and or fat you have stored
  • if you eat them at night you dont burn them off
  • and you will store up all the fat

HOW MUCH CARBS SHOULD YOU EAT?

  • When you eat carbohydrates
  • it should be 45 to 65 percent
  • of your daily calorie intake.

FUN FACTS

  • Simple carbs give you a short burst of energy
  • while complex carbs give you longer sustained energy.
  • Carbohydrates are mad up of oxygen, carbon and hydrogen
  • If you eat too many carbs
  • they will go to your fat reserves.
