PATH OF BLOOD THROUGH THE HEART

BY DANNY ASINSKI

The blood goes through the heart and then goes to the lungs to get oxygen to give to the rest of the body. This is the path blood takes. You are about to see the steps of it.

First, veins take blood to the heart! The blood that goes to the heart does not have oxygen.

The blood gathers at the right atrium in the heart. Then it goes through valves to the right ventricle. The valves build up pressure to keep it going in one direction.

Then the right ventricle pumps the blood to the Pulmonary arteries. Pulmonary means lungs. These arteries take the blood to the lungs to pick up oxygen.

Then the blood goes through the pulmonary veins that take the oxygenated blood to the left atrium in the heart.

Then the blood goes from the left atrium through a valve to the left ventricle. The left ventricle has more muscle than the right ventricle because it has a bigger pump than the right one. The left ventricle is located in the bottom left of the heart. The right ventricle is located in the bottom right of the heart.

The left ventricle pumps the blood through the aorta. The aorta is the biggest and main artery in your heart. It sends the blood all over your body.

Arteries take the blood to all the parts of your body. Then the blood goes through tiny blood vessels called capillaries that are located between the pathway of veins and arteries. Then the blood exchanges carbon dioxide and oxygen at the capillaries. Blood puts carbon dioxide into the capillaries and then it goes to the lungs to be exhaled . Carbon dioxide can also be called CO2. CO2 is the byproduct of when organs use up oxygen.

Then, finally, veins take the blood back to the heart. The blood is de-oxygenated. It is de-oxygenated because it dropped of the oxygen at organs for the organs to use.

AND THAT, IS THE PATHWAY OF THE BLOOD!!!!!

NOW YOU KNOW WHERE THE BLOOD TRAVELS THROUGH THE BODY AND THE STEPS THROUGH IT!
