Left high school at the age of thirteen to work & help support his family, then went into the Spanish-American War and qualified as a veteran for college admission at Lombard College in Galesburg IL and attended there from 1898-1902
After going to college for four year Sandburg dropped out to work as a traveling salesman. In 1912 went to work as a journalist, local news reporter and then ended up writing and printing poetry.

Sandburg's most famous books are; The People, Yes, Abraham Lincoln: The Prairies Years & the War Years
