Hurricane Katrina was 1 of Louisiana worst natural disasters. It killed a total of 1,833 people. It was a category 5 storm. It took place on August 23,2005 through August 30, 2005. It had winds as high as 174 mph and the lowest pressure was 902 mb.

families could not afford money to feed their children and buy homes aka shelter.Number of homeless children killed: 22,712. Just last year, the national poverty rate rose to include 13.2% of the population. 1 in 7 people were at risk of suffering from hunger in the United States. In addition, 3.5 million people were forced to sleep in parks, under bridges, in shelter or cars.
