  • Born March 16th 1785, died January 9th 1848.
  • Was born With typhus which stunted her growth.
  • From Hanover, Germany
  • Before astronomy she used to sing, but only for Willam her brother..
  • first women to earn a salary and be accepted into scientific organization

  • Her most significant contributions were finding several comets.
  • The comets in particular were in the periodic comet.
  • Th comet was named after her.
  • 35P/Herschel-Rigollet
  • The king  of Prussia presented her with The Gold Medal For Science.

Carolines Struggles

  • Her father supported education and when he died her mother didn't.
  • Her mother didn't want her to be educated she wanted her to work at home.
  • She suffered from Illnesses, she had scars on her face and a eye deformity

Carolines Impacts

  • She was the first woman to discover a comet.
  • She made woman get more respect into the scientific world.
  • she showed people that not only men can discover and work a telescope
