PRESENTATION OUTLINE
METAMORPHOSIS
- All species of carpet beetles go through complete metamorphosis
- The female beetle lays her eggs inside or in a birds nest, and about
- 100 at a time. The eggs hatch within 7-35 days. In both the larvae
- and pupal stage, the beetles feed on feathers, silk, fur and wool.
- Adults emerge in the summer or spring and thrive inside.

DEFENCES
- They are able to find food almost anywhere.
- They move randomly, so you don't know if you have gotten all
- of the beetles.

HELPFUL OR HARMFUL?
- Harmful definitely. But not in the way you might think.
- They don't really help, but they eat away furniture,
- and other things made of natural specimens.
