1. F. Scott Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896

2. He was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota to an upper-middle-class family

3. He was an American author who wrote novels and short stories

4. He is thought of as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century.

WHAT DID HE DO?
1. Fitzgerald wrote and finished four novels: This Side of Paradise, The Beautiful and Damned, The Great Gatsby, and Tender Is the Night.

2. He also wrote short stories with themes of youth and promise along with their counter parts age and despair.

3. He also invented the term jazz age for the 1920's

4. Scott also joined the army to fight in WWI

WHAT WAS IT?
1. The Great Gatsby was a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

2. It was published in 1925 and written prior.

3. The novel eventually became his most famous out of the four but not at first.

4. Initial reception of the book was mixed and it did not sell nearly as well as Fitzgerald had hoped

1. The book follows a cast of characters living in the fictional town of West Egg on Long Island in the summer of 1922.

2. The story follows the millionaire Jay Gatsby and his passion for Daisy Buchanan.

3. The Great Gatsby explores themes of human aspiration to start over again, social politics and also a betrayal of one's own ideals.

1. Prohibition was from 1920-1933 and it made alcohol illegal to sell of drink

2. Everybody still drank and bootleggers smuggled the stuff

3. The 1920's was a time of partying and a care free live style and got nick named the roaring 20's

4. Their was also great change the likes of which America had never known

WHO WAS AROUND?
1. Flappers started to show their faces

2. Flappers were women who were shirt skirts, had a more out going personality, and acted opposite to the way women were supposed to act back then.

3. Arnold Rothstein was around and he was a Jewish- Americran racketeer, businessman and gambler who was a king pin of the Jewish mob.
