Catherine Astrid Salome "Cathy" Freeman is an Australian sprinter and specialised in the 200 & 400 meter sprints.

FAST FACTS

  • She was born on the 16 February, 1973.
  • Her athletics career began in 1990 and she retired in 2003
  • She was the first aboriginal to compete in the commonwealth games
  • She was awarded the OAM in 2001
  • She runs a foundation which aims to close the education gap between indigenous and non-indigenous children.

Cathy freeman became Olympic champion in Sydney 2000.

She has a daughter named ruby Anne Susie murch
