located in the caribbean sea

made up of 3 islands, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman
located just south of cuba and northwest of jamaica
is considered ti be apart of the western caribbean zone
as well as the Greater Antilles

they dance along the west bay road to celebrate batabano parade
they celebrate heritage days
they also just sit down and have fish fries

they are a british overseas territory
Christopher Columbus discovered the cayman islands May 10, 1503
he named them Las Tortugas.
he saw numerous sea turtles on his travels there
that is where the name comes from

christianity is the most practiced religion
most of the local businesses, ports, and harbors are closed on sundays
influenced but american and english culture when choosing their religion

the turtle is for the islands original name las tortugas

such as sting rays, sea turtles, and just regular fish

the 7 mile beach is actually 5.5 miles
they drive on the left side of the road
they are known as the "island that time forgot"
