WHAT IS A CELL?

  • A cell is the basic unit of all living things.
  • A cell is the smallest form of life.

WHAT IS THE CELL THEORY?

  • All life forms are made from one or more cells.
  • Cells only are created through already known cells.
  • The cell is the smallest form of life.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PROKARYOTIC & EUKARYOTIC

  • Eukaryotic Cells are larger than Prokaryotic Cells.
  • This is because they have a complicated internal structure.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCES ABOUT PLANT AND ANIMAL CELLS?

  • Plant cells have a large central vacuole.
  • Animal cells have small fluid filled sacs called vesicles.
  • Plant cells in stems and leaves have chloroplasts in their cytoplasm.
  • Plant cells have a cellulose cell wall around the cell membrane.

CELL MEMBRANE

  • Function: Keeps unwanted nutrients out and wanted nutrients in.
  • Cell membranes are found in both animal and plant cells.

ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM

  • Function: Stores proteins.
  • ER is found in both animal and plant cells.

GOLGI APPARATUS (GOLGI BODY)

  • Function: Packages and processes macromolecules.
  • Golgi Apparatus is found in animal and plant cells.

RIBOSOMES

  • Function: Builds proteins of the cells.
  • Ribosomes are found in plant and animal cells.

MITOCHONDRIA

  • Function: Cellular respiration.
  • Mitochondria is found in plant and animal cells.

NUCLEUS

  • Function: Storing genetic material.
  • They're found in both plant and animal cells.

NUCLEOLUS

  • Function: Producing ribosomes.
  • They're found in both animal and plant cells.

VACUOLE

  • Function: stores food and water.
  • They're found in both plant and animal cells.

LYSOSOMES

  • Function: Digest the worn-out organelles.
  • They're found in both animal and plant cells.

CHROMOSOMES(DNA)

  • Function: Carries the genes in the nucleous.
  • They're found in both plant and animal cells.

CELL WALL

  • Function: Provides as a shield around plant cells.
  • They are only found in plant cells.

CHLOROPLAST

  • Function: Makes sugars and starches
  • They're only found in plant cells.
