PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CELL CYCLE

BY ABBY VOSS

INTERPHASE

IS THE NONE REPRODUCING STAGE OF THE CELL CYCLE

INTERPHASE

  • Most of cell life is spent in interphase.
  • 18 of the 20 hours of the cell cycle is spent in interphase.
  • Interphase begins after mitosis and cell division is complete.
  • Chromatin=chromosome=DNA=genes
  • Chromatin and histones are only visible during interphase

MITOSIS

CELL REPRODUCTION IN WHICH A MOTHER CELL DIVIDES INTO TWO DAUGHTER CELLS

MITOSIS

  • Mitosis dose not occur in nerve and muscle cells.
  • Entering mitosis the chromosomes have already duplicated.
  • Mitosis has four stages
  • Prophase,metaphase,anaphase,telophase

PROPHASE

  • Chromosomes become visible
  • Nuceolus and nuclear membrane disappear
  • Spindle fibers form
  • Centrioles move to the poles

METAPHASE

  • Double stranded chromosomes
  • Spindle fibers attach to the centromere of each chromosomes

ANAPHASE

  • Spindle fibers pull apart
  • One chromatid of each pair moves to the opposite end

TELOPHASE

  • Spindle fibers disappear
  • Chromosomes became less visible
  • Nuclear membrane and Nucleolus reappear

CYTOKINESIS

THE CELL MEMBRANE PINCHS TOGETHER IN TO TWO NEW DAUGHTER CELLS.
