PHOTOSYNTHESIS

TO CREATE FOOD AND ENERGY FOR PLANTS AND OTHER ORGANISMS

PHOTOSYNTHESIS

  • Location in cell: chloroplasts
  • Organism that the process happens in: plant
  • Reactants: light energy, water and oxygen
  • Products: carbon dioxide and sugar

SUMMARY:

  • The chloroplasts absorb light energy from the sun.
  • The plant also takes water and oxygen from the environment around it.
  • 6 molecules of CO2 and 6 molecules of H2O and energy are combined.
  • When they are combined they produce carbon dioxide and sugar.
  • The carbon dioxide and sugar are used for food and energy for the plant.

CELLULAR RESPIRARATION

TO OBTAIN ENERGY FROM FOOD, USING OXYGEN

Untitled Slide

  • Location in cell: cytoplasm and mitochondria
  • Organism that the process happens in: animal and plant
  • Reactants: oxygen, water and smaller molecules
  • Products: Carbon dioxide, energy and water

SUMMARY:

FERMENTATION

THE PROCESS WHERE ENERGY IS OBTAINED FROM FOOD, WITHOUT OXYGEN

FERMENTATION

  • Where it takes place in the cell: cytoplasm
  • What type of organism it takes place in: animal and plant
  • Reactants: glucose
  • Products: energy, alcoholic and lactic acid
