PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CELL ORGANELLES

By: Nicole Seeger and Aitza Cabrera

NUCLEUS

  • The nucleus regulates all cell activity
  • Maintain the integrity of DNA

MITOCHONDRIA

  • The reproduction of energy
  • The cell uses this energy for cell survival and function

GOLGI APPARATUS

  • It processes and packages the proteins and lipids that are synthesized by the cell

VACUOLE

  • Store food or any nutrients cells need to survive
  • Can store waste products so the rest of the cell is protected from contamination

LYSOMES

  • They contain digestive enzymes
  • The enzymes break down foreign material that enter the cell

RIBOSOMES

  • The function is protein synthesis

CHLOROPLASTS

  • Are the food producers of the cell
  • They are only found in plant cells and some protists

CELL MEMBRANE

  • Isolate the cytoplasm from external environment
  • Regulate the exchange of substances
  • Communicate with other cells

CYTOPLASM

  • The substance that fills the cell
  • It's jelly like material that is 80% water
  • Clear in color

ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM

  • Functions as a packaging system
  • Works closely with the Golgi apparatus, and the ribosomes
  • Smooth- it acts as a storage
  • Rough- very important in the synthesis & packaging of proteins
