  • 80% of accidents are due to driver distraction within 3 seconds of a crash
  • Drivers using cell phones are 4X as likely to have an injury related crash

Texting and Driving Accident Statistics for 2017-19

  • AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety found that 87% of drivers view texting and driving as the most significant hazard on the road
  • 52.3% of the minors said that they have seen their parents texting and driving in the last year
  • The U.S. DOT reported that cell phone use while driving kills 3,000 to 6,000 people every year.

  • Study: Adults more likely to text, while driving than teens
  • 82% of adults between the ages of 25 and 39 admitted to cell phone use behind the wheel 43% said they do so on a regular basis.
  • 58% of teenagers said they used their phones while behind the wheel and 7% said they texted while driving

  • Silence your phone
  • Put your phone away
  • Keep your phone out of hands reach
  • If you are the driver, be the driver: keep your attention on the road and do not engage your passengers
  • Keep your hands on the wheel
