Slide Notes

My inspiration for choosing this place is I love, breath, live basketball. Athletes run in the family. My real dad played football in college my step father played number 50 for Rutgers, and played for the kings and pacers. So I followed my step dad steps and I'm a fanatic when it comes to basketball. So I chose this since it is something easy for me to understand it was easy to find analogies for it.

BASKETBALL GAME

WHERE PEOPLE WORK TOGETHER TO WIN A CELLTASTIC GAME OF Basketball
My inspiration for choosing this place is I love, breath, live basketball. Athletes run in the family. My real dad played football in college my step father played number 50 for Rutgers, and played for the kings and pacers. So I followed my step dad steps and I'm a fanatic when it comes to basketball. So I chose this since it is something easy for me to understand it was easy to find analogies for it.

THE REFERCELL

The ref is the boss of the game, you must listen to what he/she says
The nucleus is the boss of the cell because it holds the DNA of the cell and it controls the cell, just like how in basketball you have to listen to the ref for when he blows the whistle or calls a technical because he controls the game. (He calls the shots)

COACH MEMBRANE

The coach is the cell membrane, she controls what enters and what exits the court
The coach on a basketball team is like the cell membrane, the cell membrane controls what enters and what leaves the cell. The coach controls what plays to put on the court and who needs to substitute and who needs to leave the court and sit on the bench. (He/she controls what stays or what leaves the court)

THE POINTGUARD

The point guard collects the ball and delivers different plays on the court to score
Golgi bodies delivers the protein to other parts of the cell, just like in the basketball game the point guard delivers what the coach tells the team to do by delivering the basketball to other players of the team and directing the players on the court to create a play to score.

STOREBOARD

The storeboard (scoreboard) stores the statistics of the game
The vacuole of a cell stores food, water, and other substances in the cell. Just like how the scoreboard in basketball stores the points scored and fouls for each team and the quarter the game is in.

RUNNING CARRIES THE PLAYER

Running carries the player and ball to sides of the court to deliver/pass the ball
Just like how the endoplasmic reticulum carries the ribosomes and other materials to one part of a cell to another, running carries players to sides of the court depending on where the ball is.

THE PLAYERS /TEAM

The cell-athletes need energy to play the game
If the basketball players put no energy or don't move or do anything there would be no game because no action would be happening, just like the mitochondria in a cell provides energy for the organelles to function. If there was no mitochondria the organelles wouldn't function.

THE GYM/STADIUM

The outer layer of the court that protects the court from weather conditions
The cell wall is the outer layer of a cell that protects everything inside the cell. Just like how the gymnasium/ stadium protects everything inside the court and the players from activity outside of it.

WHISTLE

The whistle surrounds the refercell
Just like how the nuclear membrane surrounds the nucleus, a whistle surrounds the refs neck and when blown game stops and you must do what the ref demands.

PHYSICAL COURT

The physical basketball court keeps the players in a general area
Just like how the cytoplasm is a cell is a jell like fluid that keeps the organelles in place, the basketball court gives the players boundaries they can't pass and the players have to remain in a general area on each side of the court. Which is in comparison to the jell like fluid inside of the cell.
