CELL-FRANCORCHAMPS

A CELL PROJECT BY DUSTIN COPELAND
I have always enjoyed racing and racetracks, and I believe that many of the parts of a racetrack can be represented by cell organelles, So it is perfect for this project! The name comes from a famous Belgian race track located in the town of Francorchamps, called Spa-Francorchamps.

Welcome to Cell-Francorchamps!

Dan the Tour Guide: And we begin....

Jared the Janitor: Good luck!

ADMITTANCE MEMBRANE

CONTROLLING ENTRANCES AND EXITS
Welcome to Cell-Francorchamps, the soon-to-be world famous racetrack! Within its walls lie good food, wonderful hotels and exciting racing! But before we get to that, you have to pass through here, the admittance membrane. These areas make sure that the only people that get into the track are the right people. Here's where you buy all that you need to access everything inside!

In a cell, the cell membrane controls what enters and exits the cell. It makes sure no harmful material makes it into the cell to harm it, just like the admittance membrane.

PIT CREWS

THE "NUCLEUS" OF THE OPERATION
Behind the pit lane walls lies a vast operation of hundreds of people working hard to make their team the fastest round the track. Within the team's crews lies the administrative teams that work together to keep the track running smoothly.

In a cell, the nucleus is the "control center" of the cell. It makes sure that the cell runs at the best it can be, and that nothing in the cell goes wrong, just like pit crews do in a race.

MITO-II POWER PLANT

THE MIGHTY MITO-II POWERS THE ENTIRE COMPLEX
Every track needs power, and we might just have the most. Our mighty Mito-II plants create almost 150 TW/h per year of power to keep our lights on!

In a cell, the mitochondria takes food and uses it to make usable energy for the cell, just like the power generators create power for the track.

E.R.OADWAYS

TRANSPORTING GOODS SINCE 2015
Every piece of tarmac around the park serves as our roadways. Even the track itself is used for transportation - for tours and sometimes food and supplies. Our roadways are our pride and joy - we keep them in perfect condition year round. They're even temperature controlled so they don't change size because of weather!

In a cell, the endoplasmic reticulum transports proteins and other materials from place to place. The E.R.oadways do the same thing, transporting people and supplies around the complex.

CHLOROPLAST SUPPLIES

KEEPING THE TRACK ALIVE
For all of our existence, we've depended on just one helping hand: Chloroplast Supplies. They shipped food and essential items to us during construction, and still help us supply you with the highest quality food in the area! And, Chloroplast Supplies is 100 percent solar powered!

In a plant cell, the chloroplast uses energy from the sun to make food for the cell. This supplies the cell with material to keep it alive, just like Chloroplast Supplies keeps the track running.

V-STORAGE

VACUOLE TYPE III LIQUID STORAGE
These here are our Vacuole Type III Storage unit! It contains all of the liquid material necessary for the track to continue running smoothly. Without it, we'd be one abandoned circuit!

In the cell, the vacuole stores water for the cell to use, just like the V-Storage stores liquid for the track to use.

PLASTID SNACKS AND SUCH

THE BEST STARCHY FOOD IN TEN MILES
And here are our famed Plastid food-stores. We are always open for you to fill up on the most delicious starchy snacks within track grounds! Only $3.99 per pack of medium waffle fries.

In a plant cell, the plastid stores the starch needed in the plant cell, just as the plastid food stands store and dispense starchy foods.

VISMET

OUR FAVORITE PROTEIN-PACKED RESTAURANT
When you've made it past the amazing racing, fascinating history, and rather excellent tour of Cell-Francorchamps, you can retire to the nearby (only 10.01 miles away!) Vismet restaurant, our favorite protein-filled place to eat! Their food may be even better than ours (what a concept...)! There, every dish is their best dish!

In a cell, ribosomes create protein for the cell to use, just as our favorite protein-filled restaurant fills you with joy at its delicious food.

GOLGI PACKAGING CO.

SELLING YOU CELL-FRANCORCHAMPS GIFTS RELIABLY FOR OVER THREE MONTHS!
And finally, I welcome you to the end of our tour, and GP gifts, our online and on-track gift shop! Buy anything from model racers to model road cars and more! You can even buy gift boxes and shipping to any destination around the globe! Except for Argentina. We don't like Argentina.

In a cell, the Golgi bodies package and distribute proteins and materials from the E.R. to various parts of the cell, just like Golgi Packaging delivers gifts all around the world.

Jared the Janitor: yeah, that was amazing! I had no idea we had the kind of money to pull that off.
Dan the Tour Guide: yeah, that would be my fault. I pull in the cash with my amazing tour guide skills!
Jared the Janitor: Right... I'm just going to sweep over here and ignore the fact that this track was rated "Cleanest place in the WORLD" by the experts on the subject...
Dan the Tour Guide: ... Who studies cleanliness for a living?
Jared: ...

People with degrees who have nothing better to do?
Dan: Yeah, probably.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

  • Jenson Button: "Racing here, was like coming home. It is one of the best experiences I've ever had."
  • Jason Oomori: I had an excellent time. 5 out of 5 stars.
  • George Zimmerli: Excellent service, Great seats, and Vismet might be the best restaurant in the world. 10/10.
  • Lewis Hamton: Best gift shop I've been to in a while. The models are great, with amazing quality for relatively cheap prices (only $135 for my 1:18 scale Miura SV)! 9.6/9.6.
Jared the Janitor: Dude, look at these reviews!
Dan the Tour Guide: yeah, they are pretty weird. I mean, who rates a place 9.6 out of 9.6?
Jared: No.... Well, yeah, that is weird, but I'm talking about the fact that we have JENSON BUTTON on OUR TRACK!
Dan: What? You didn't expect that? We have the best hotels in the country, man. He was probably over there, waiting to race at Spa, when he saw our track and decided to try it out.
Jared: True. He was probably happy with our hotels, not our racetrack.
Dan: Well, It does say he especially liked the driving, so...
Jared. Well, maybe we're not so bad after all!
Dan: wait a sec. Wasn't he the guy the boss said he was paying to come here and stuff?
Jared: Oh, yeah. Darn it. We are trash.
Dan: But we knew that already.
Jared: Still is a bit annoying to have it confirmed.
Dan: Yeah...
Well, I'm gonna go have some food.
Jared: Noooooo... Take me with you!
Dan: ah ah ah... Gotta finish your shift!
Jared: .... Gimme leftovers?
Dan: Nope!
