CELL THEORY PRINCIPALS

  • All living things are made up of cells.
  • All existing cells are made up of other cells
  • The cell is the most basic unit of life.

THE CREATORS OF THE CELL THEORY AND WHAT THEY DID.

  • Hooke: he was the first to identify and name cells
  • Leeuwenhoek: used better lenses to see cells in more detail.
  • Schleiden: the first to note that plants are made of cells.
  • Shwann: the first to discover that all living things are made of cells.
  • Virchow: proposed that all living cells come from other cells.

PROKARYOTIC

  • Does not have a nucleus or other membrane-bound organells
  • DNA is suspended in cytoplasm
  • All of them are microscopic single-celled organisms.

EUKARYOTIC

  • Have nucleus and other membrane-bound organells
  • The nucleus contains genetic information
  • Can either be single or multi celled organisms.
