WHAT IT IS

  • Caused by the bacterium stapholycoccus
  • An inflammatory conditon
  • Spreads rapidly and through cuts
  • Commonly found on lower limbs
  • Usually occurs on surface skin

SOURCE

  • Ulcer
  • Bedsore
  • Open wound

IF LEFT UNTREATED

  • Can lead to life threatening situations
  • Endocarditis
  • Septicemia

RISK FACTORS

  • Weak immune system
  • Skin conditons
  • Intravenous drug use
  • History of cellulitis

TREATMENTS

  • Shaking/chills

  • Muscle aches
  • Warm skin/sweating
