PRESENTATION OUTLINE

R is for Randy.
Randy didn't like the fighting. None of it. He didn't like the two different groups. Randy hated all of it, he had lost Bob because of it.

S is for Sodapop and Sandy.
Sodapop really loved Sandy, but she obviously didn't love him. She got pregnant with another guy. Sodapop didn't care about that though! He wanted to marry her but she decided to move to Florida instead because when you get pregnant and your still in school, you either move or get married. She chose to move and Sodapop felt tons of pain.

T is for Track.
Track in this book could mean two completely different things. Like Ponyboy was an amazing runner and was awesome at track. Or it could mean that Ponyboy lost it, completely got off track when he lost his best friend, Johny.

U is for Umbrella.
Darry protected Ponyboy like an umbrella protects somebody from the rain. He kept them all together. Darry didn't go to college so he could keep Sodapop and Pony out of a home for boys. All three of them needed each other too much to be split.

V is for vacuum.
Ponyboy was still upset about Johny and Dally. It was consuming him, sucking him out of the real world, like a vacuum. Darry was mad about this because he just kept getting bad grades in school.

W is for Wildling.
A wildling is a wild plant or flower, Dally was lost, wild, like a wildling when Johny died. He needed to relieve himself from the pain. This wildling made the police kill him so he would no longer feel the pain.

X is for Xanadu.
Staying gold is like looking at the world like it is Xanadu; a place of great beauty. This is what the poem meant, and Johny told Ponyboy that he was still gold. Two-Bit knew too after he had smashed the bottle and picked up the broken pieces.

Y is for Yarn.
Everything is all balled up. Knotted like a ball of yarn, Ponyboy was seriously lost. Everybody was tangled, like nothing made sense anymore.

Z is for Zero.
When Johny and Dally both died, how much sense did this make to Ponyboy? Zero. None at all. It was to hard on him to have lost so many people that were so close to him in his life. His parents first, now Johny and Dally? How could this happen?
