Confucianism (Confucianism)

Daoism (influences on Confucianism)

- belief system that seeks harmony with nature and inner feelings.
- " Daoism began in China in the 500's B.C "
- Daoism is one of the reasons why people lost interest in Confucianism.

Genghis Khan ( A great leader pg.233)
-Means "universal ruler"
- "Genghis khan organized Mongol warriors into a mighty fighting force and began a campaign of conquest."
-Genghis fought all his rivals to get his power.

Kublai Khan (The Mongol Empire pg. 234)
- Genghis's grandson
- Kublai took power in in the Chinese part of the empire in 1260.
- when Kublai had control of the empire, southern china was still under song rule.

- def: Most famous European visitor.

- Marco Polo traveled the silk roads with he father and uncle.

Mongol Ascendancy (Trade Routes pg. 236)
Def: period of time when the mongols Took control of Central Asia.
"Mongol control made overland travel safe"
- The Mongol Ascendency encouraged trade.
