Love Is All You Need?

Heteronormativity asserts that heterosexuality is the only sexual orientation or only norm, and is often linked to heterosexism and homophobia. It is a viewpoint that expresses heterosexuality as a given instead of being one of many possibilities, and that involves alignment of biological sex, sexuality, gender identity and gender roles. Examples of heteronormative assumptions are that a boy will grow up to marry a woman, or that a girl will grow up to marry a boy. Examples of heteronormativity in the media are children’s books and TV shows only portraying heterosexuality and the assuming that every character is heterosexual.

Love is All You Need challenges heteronormativity by creating a world where to be gay is right and to be straight is wrong. In this short film, to be heterosexual is to be shunned and ridiculed because it means you are different. This effectively powerful, thought provoking film sheds light onto the highly controversial issue of human and equal rights in the LGBTQ Community.
