The Irish potato famine.


In the 1845-1852 there was a potato famine that caused 25% of the people in Ireland to move or they died.

The potato's back then had a disease that caused potato famine. Famine means that there is less of something in the world, in this case potato's in Ireland.

  • They damage the plants and then people don't get food.
  • climate conditions effect food supply.
  • global warming causes food supply shortages.
  • loss of water,energy,land and other resources

Diseases

  • Viruses,insects and weeds destroy plants.
  • Chemicals also prevent food to grow.
  • Farmers are dying because of HIV/AIDS.
  • Viruses like ebola also put travel restrictions.
