Niagara Falls was the birthplace of commercial hydro-electric power
Volume of water: 150,000 U.S.
The flow of water was stopped completely over both falls on March 29th 1848 due to an ice jam
The firstperson to go over the Falls in a barrel survive was a 63 year old female schoolteacher.

The Great Lakes are a group of large lakes in the upper midwest
Lake Huron, Lake Ontario, Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, and Lake Superior
There are at least 30,000 islands scattered throughout the Great Lakes.

Lake Superior is the largest of all the lakes.
