Rills

Gully

• A small groove or channel in soil or rock that carries 
• water after a thunderstorm

STream

• A channel along which water is continuously
• flowing down a slope

Tributary

• A stream or river that flows into a larger river

Waterfall

• A cascade of water that flows over a cliff or steep incline

Floodplain

• Low lying ground adjacent to rivers that 
• could be subjected to lots of flooding

Meander

• A winding bend in a river or road

Oxbow Lake

• A curved lake formed at a former oxbow
• where the river has cut out
• (The oxbow lake is directly below this. Look closley)

Delta

• A land form found at the mouth of the river 

Alluvial fan

• A fan shaped mat of alluvium formed as the river 
• decreases in velocity
