MIGRATION

PUSH FACTOR

  • A factor that drives people away from a certain area
  • "Famine is a push factor"

PULL FACTORS

  • A factor that draw people to a certain area
  • "A stable economy and good education is a pull factor."

SOCIAL FACTORS

  • The facts and experiences that influence or control an individuals' personality, attitudes and lifestyle.
  • "Religion is an example of a social factor."

ETHIC PERSECUTION

  • Actions, practices, or beliefs that consider the human species to be divided into races with shared traits
  • "The KKK is a good example of a group who practiced ethic persecution."

RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION

  • mistreatment of an individual or group of individuals as a response to their religious beliefs or affiliations
  • "The holocaust during WWII is an example of religious persecution."

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Any factor, abiotic or biotic, that influences living organisms.
  • "A change in temperature is an example of an environmental factor."

PHYSICAL BARRIER

  • An obstacle that hinders people with physical disabilities from gaining access.
  • "Stanley was upset when he didn't see a ramp in the restaurant. It posed as a physical barrier for his brother who was in a wheelchair."

IRISH POTATO FAMINE

  • A time when the Irish population was reduced by 25 percent due to famine, and potato crops were less than plenty

  • The state of being extremely poor.
