ARTICLE 19: THE CHURCH'S HOLINESS

  • The church is both human and divine
  • The church is always carrying out Christ's mission
  • The church is holy because it is united with Christ
  • All members of the church are sinners
  • Repentance and conversion are important to grow in holiness
  • Our lifelong mission is to hear Christs call to conversion and become increasingly holy

ARTICLE 20: CHURCH MAKES US GROW HOLY THROUGH GOD'S GRACE

  • The holiness of the church is the result of God's grace
  • Grace is the free and undeserved gift of God's presence
  • Sanctifying grace is a change that brings us closer to god
  • Habitual grace helps us live our life according to gods will
  • Actual grace is God's intervention and support
  • Special graces are the individual gifts given to us to help the world

ARTICLE 21: COMMUNION OF SAINGS

  • The communion of saints includes the Church, a communion of holy people, and those alive with god
  • In Latin saint means holy people and holy things
  • The communion that Christ has given the church enables the boundaries of the living and the Saints that allow us to get closer to them and Christ

ARTICLE 22: THE SAINTS: MODELS AND INTERCESSORS

  • We are all Saints because we are all parts of the church
  • Saints inspire is to grow in holiness and nourish out hope in god
  • Saints intercede for us when we pray for the
  • "To understand the church we need to be acquainted with the saints who are most eloquent sighn, her sweetest fruit"

ARTICLE 23: MARY: THE PERFECT MODEL OF HOLINESS

  • Mary is the holiest human being who ever lived
  • The Holy Spirit worked through Mary to bring people to christ
  • She said yes to God and corporated with his plan
  • The Assumption was when Mary was taken body and soul into heaven
  • Mary is the church's model of faith and love
