PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE UPPER CLASS

  • This social class represents wealthy people.
  • There are two sections to this, old money & new money .

THE UPPER MIDDLE CLASS

  • Members of the upper middle class are primarly high income buisness people.
  • Class membership is gwnrally based on income rather than on assets.

THE LOWER MIDDLE CLASS

  • Most lower class people hold a white collar jobs, doesnt involve manuel labor.
  • Most members of this class usually own a small business and live in comfort.

THE WORKING CLASS

  • Many members of this group require a job that has manuel labor.
  • Most of these jobs have been labeled as Blue collared jobs.

THE WORKING POOR

  • The working poor work at the lowest paying jobs.
  • Many depend on government programs to make wnds meet.

THE UNDERCLASS

  • Families that have experienced unemployment and poverty over several years.
  • Usually day to day struggle for survival.

MEDICARE

  • One gets this benefit by being 65 years or older.
  • You can also get it if you or your spouse have retired and not got your social security.
  • I believe this is a good thing to have because it helps out older people who cant work anymore.

WELFARE

  • You have to make a low wage
  • Based on gross net, income and family size.

SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS

  • You can either be retired or dead.
  • You would have to be disabeled.

POVERTY IN THE U.S

  • Poverty in the US is base according to age, education, labor force attachment, family living arrangements, and area of residence, among other factors.
  • One in five children under age 18, or 21.3%, are living in poverty in the United States
  • Poverty can be due to the loss of jobs.
  • More than 46 million Americans live in Poverty USA.
  • In the United States, the official poverty rate for 2012 stood at 15 percent based on the national poverty line which is equivalent to around $16 per person per day
