PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE UPPER CLASS

  • It controls a sizable proportion of the country's wealth
  • Most have some of the world's richest and most famous people among their friends
  • Beyonce and Jay Z are known around the world

THE UPPER MIDDLE CLASS

  • Primarily high-income businesspeople and profressionals
  • Most have a college education, and many have advanced degrees
  • This family is how most people picture the upper middle class

THE LOWER MIDDLE CLASS

  • Most of these people hold a white-collar job
  • These jobs don't involve manual labor
  • They have a lower education and lower pay

THE WORKING CLASS

  • Many members of this class hold jobs that require manual labor
  • Factory workers, tradespeople, less skilled workers all fall in this category
  • Jobs that don't require manual labor are called pink-collar jobs

THE WORKING POOR

  • They work at the lowest-paying jobs
  • These jobs are often temporary or seasonal
  • Even though the working poor work hard, they rarely make a living wage

THE UNDERCLASS

  • Families that have experienced unemployment
  • And poverty over several generations
  • Some do work but usually only at undesirable, low-paying jobs.

  • You apply first online then if you meet the requirements they send you further information
  • Medicare is a good thing becuase many people cant afford to pay the doctor

WELFARE

  • You appy online
  • I think that its very helpful and beneficial

  • You get food stamps from the government
  • It can feed a family in need

POVERTY IN THE USA

  • In 2012, the poverty rate for people living with a disability was 28.4%.
  • In 2012, 21.8% of all children lived in Poverty USA
  • official census data gives seniors a 2012 poverty rate of only 9.1%, the Supplemental Poverty Measure,
  • The highest poverty rate by race is found among Blacks (27.2%)
  • For households with more than 8 people, add $4,060 for each additional person.
