What Do Character Animators Do?

  • Animate the characters of a film
  • In charge of being able to express emotion well through a characters movement
  • In charge of bringing the characters to life and making them believable
  • Mostly work at a desk whether it be for 2D or 3D

What Skills Do Character Animators Require?

  • Must have a bachelors degree in an Art major, preferably in animation
  • Must be able to work at a desk for long hours a day
  • Must have a great understanding of human and animal anatomy

How to Learn to Become a Character Animator

  • Attend art classes in college to get a degree
  • Attend art classes outside of college
  • Practice animation by creating home made projects
  • Go people watching and observe the different movements of different people

Where Do Character Animators Work?

  • Most character animators work for a studio or production that produces animated films
  • There are some than can make money by releasing their work online thorugh YouTube and such but they won't be paid as much

  • Sometimes character animators may start of at a low paying job at an animation studio such as sorting mail but will then eventually make it up to Animator
