Paul's Personality " But I can see. I can see everything. I can see the thing that mom and dad can't. Or won't." (pg. 4) This shows that Paul can see the bad behavior that others chose to ignore in Erik.
"I took another step forward and challenged him, ' Come on, Erik, let's see if you can do any better with me than you did with Tino.' " This shows that Paul has changed because he isn't scared of Erik and has matured.
" That big eighth grader held his fist out and I put mine down on top of it. He said, ' Alright Fisher!' " (Pg. 286) This Shows that Paul has earned the respect of the kids at Tangerine middle and has new friends.
" She ran her finger under the strap of my goggles and slipped them off." (Pg. 3-4) Paul has glasses because he doesn't see very well as a result of Erik's abuse.
"I got into my blue pants, white shirt, blue tie, black socks, and black shoes and went down to the kitchen."(Pg.293) Paul is now forced to wear a uniform now that he got ex spelled from tangerine middle.
Paul changed throughout this story. In the begging he is a scared kid afraid of his brother who caused him to lose his vision. Through out the story he changes by coming a crossed real life scenario such as mikes death and the tangerine groves. This causes him to grow and mature and to become more of an adult. This change was finalized when he stood up to Erik by writing the police report.
